History of Bulandshahr
The origin of Bulandshahr district dates back to 1200 BC. It is close to Indraprastha and Hastinapur, the seat of power of the Pandavas. After the fall of Hastinapur, the Pandavas ruled from Ahar, located in the Bulandshahr district. A fort was built by King Parma in this area over the years. Much later, King Ahibaran established a minaret called Baran. Since this tower was situated on high ground, it was named Bulandshahr which in Persian means “high city”.
King Ahibaran was a Kshatriya ruler and was considered to be the Suryavanshi (i.e. the lineage of the Sun God). Ahibaran was the 21st descendant of Emperor Mandhata, the ruler of Ayodhya.

History of Zila Krishi Audyogik Evam Sanskritik Pradarshini
During the British rule, the British administrators used to arrange horse racing, polo etc. for their entertainment, for which good horses were needed. In the same context, in the year 1881, the then British Collector Mr. Clerk, who was known as Tom Saheb, organized an pradarshini of good breed horses in Bulandshahr. A small market also started coming up with the horse pradarshini. Thus the foundation of the pradarshini was laid in Bulandshahr district.
From 1881 to 1926, this pradarshini was known as the Imperial Horse. After that it was named Zila pradarshini and Horse Show.
